  ALWAYS...
    PATSY CLINE

       BY TED SWINDLEY
    Synopsis   Cast    Photos

                                                              SYNOPSIS
ALWAYS . . . PATSY CLINE has enjoyed great success all over the United States, including a successful run off-Broadway. It has been one of the most produced musicals in America according to American Theatre Magazine. “Always…Patsy Cline” has also been enjoyed internationally by audiences in Canada, the UK and Australia.
Always…Patsy Cline” is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963.  The show is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death.

The musical play, complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy's unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Waking After Midnight…27 songs in all.  The show’s title was inspired by Cline's letters to Seger, which were consistently signed "Love ALWAYS... Patsy Cline.”

The show combines humor, sadness and reality. It offers fans who remember Cline while she was alive a chance to look back, while giving new fans an idea of what seeing her was like and what she meant to her original fans.

                                                            SYNOPSIS
ROUNDING THIRD is the hilarious and tumultuous journey of two Little League coaches through an entire season—from their first tentative meeting to the climactic championship game. Don is the rough, blue-collar, win-at-all-costs veteran coach, and Michael is the newcomer, a corporate executive who’s never played baseball before.  Over the course of exhilarating victories, heartbreaking defeats and interminable rainouts, the two men battle over how to lead the team. Michael believes that coaches should shield the kids from intense competition while making sure everyone has a good time.  Don thinks they should teach the kids how to win. Written by Richard Dresser, playwright, father and Little League coach, ROUNDING THIRD really asks the questions: how should we raise our children, and what does it mean to be an American man? Some mild adult language.

                                                Synopsis
The wonderful and historic City of New Orleans is forever etched in our minds because of its terrible fate at the hands of Hurricane Katrina and the destructive flooding that followed.  It is the land of Jazz, and great food, the home of great writers and artists, and one of the most exceptional and eccentric cities in America and the world.  Tennessee Williams, one of the greatest playwrights America has ever produced, was in love with this quirky and exciting city and set his most famous play, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE in the heart of this mysterious and scintillating place. This season we are presenting this great play in homage to this fabulous city and to the hard-working people who will lead it to its rebirth.

      A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
had a long and successful run on Broadway and the road.
It is a
tragic and effective drama which ranks as one of the greatest in our theatre. THE STORY:
The play reveals to the very depths the character of Blanche du Bois, a woman whose life has been undermined by her romantic illusions, which lead her to reject—so far as possible —the realities of life with which she is faced and which she consistently ignores. The pressure brought to bear upon her by her sister, with whom she goes to live in New Orleans, intensified by the earthy and extremely "normal" young husband of the latter, leads to a revelation of her tragic self-delusion and, in the end, to madness.

OPERATION LYSISTRATA

A Documentary Film by Michael Patrick Kelly
 A  FASCINATING AND CONTROVERSIAL
FILM THAT LOOKS AT
A STARTLING ACT OF THEATRICAL DISSENT
About the film       About the Director

Award-winning filmmaker Michael Patrick Kelly’s  “Operation Lysistrata” provides a behind-the-scenes look at how two women struggle to transform their hopes for  peace into a global movement.  OPERATION LYSISTRATA, is a feature-length documentary combining cinema verite-style footage of the project organizers, performance documentation from around the world, interviews with both scholars and participants, and animated sequences. The process of making the film has very much mirrored the collaborative effort of the protest itself, incorporating amateur and professional footage in an inclusive democratic spirit. Ultimately, the film explores the impact of theatre on politics, society, history and our culture, as well as the role of art in a functioning democracy. The filmmaker Michael Kelly,  will host a discussion of  OPERATION LYSISTATA immediately following the presentation of the film in our main stage space. A Reception for Mr. Kelly and our audience will follow the discussion.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

OPERATION LYSISTRATA is the first feature-length documentary produced and directed by Michael Patrick Kelly. A screenwriter and filmmaker who studied at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, he has produced written and directed several award-winning shot films. His first film, “The Spiral,” won both Best Dramatic Short and the Best Actress for its star at the Brooklyn Film Festival 2000. His hilarious short film “Only Joking” won Best Comedy at the Dragon* Con Short Film Festival and was a Finalist for Best Comedy at the Peach City Short Film Festival. Both “Only Joking” and his short “The Payoff” were official selections at the Los Angeles Short Film Festival.

Recent Hungarian émigré Antal (“Brown”) Medve has saved up enough money to purchase a used movie camera.  He has one day to film his own and his sister Katinka’s testimony about the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956, and submit it as evidence to the investigating United Nations’ committee.

In the course of the day’s shooting, Katinka and Brown re-live their pasts:  the hope and exhilaration of the revolution; and their despair on that Sunday morning when the Russian tanks come back into Budapest.  They also grapple with the difficulty of adjusting to life in the U.S.  The catharsis that ensues permits them to begin again in their new country.
