Newton…Tri-State Actors Theater goes “On the Town” with their New Plays Reading Series to the The SpringBoard Shoppes, 145 Spring Street, Newton. Tri-State will present a Concert Reading of Susan Goodell’s new script, HEELS OVER HEAD on Saturday, April 20. The reading, directed by Patricia Durante, begins at 7:30 pm at the Gallery. HEELS OVER HEAD is a romantic farce about a couple vowing to keep their poetic, rhapsodic love alive despite overwhelming disruption. Jake and Luna meet and fall magically in love at a bungee jumping for singles weekend. They elope, not caring where they drive, and spend the next several days at an inn subsisting on blueberry muffins. But as real life awaits their passion is challenged by dwelling problems, roommates, relatives, old lovers, secrets and many idiosyncrasies.

The readers include professional actors Patricia Durante(also directing,) Rosemary Glennon, Daniel Mian, Jason Szametra, Marie Wallace and Nicholas Wilder. Following the reading there will be a talk back and reception with the playwright, Susan Goodell, the play’s director and cast, and Tri-State Artistic Director, Paul Meacham.

Susan Goodell’s plays have received productions in eight states including New York (three food groups: the Strawberry Festival, the Turnip Festival and Cocktail Six) Connecticut (Theatre Artists Workshop where she is a member) and Colorado (where she was nominated for a Denver Critic’s Circle Award and named to the Denver Post’s drama critic’s annual “10 Best” list). She has been commissioned by Steppenwolf Theatre Company and awarded a residency at Djerassi Residence Artists Program. After 10 years in New York, she now lives in Connecticut. an unrealistically optimistic comedy about love-as we’d like to live it.
