SUSAN AUSTIN ROTH
MISSING PAGES
Susan Austin Roth is an emerging playwright who earns
her living as a non-fiction writer and photographer. She lives in
Washington, D.C. Her play, BYE, MOM!--or "How Not to Bury Your
Mother," was show-cased in NYC in 2005. HOME FOR CHRISTMAS was performed in
2003 at the Common Basis Theater in New York. Other short plays include CUT AND RUN,
THE WINDOW, and METRO STOP, a one-minute play. |

DEAN BEVAN
HAUNTED Dean Bevan is the author of several plays and screenplays, including five Ten-minute plays: "United We Stand," "If Gold Rust," "Wol-Mort," "Spare Time," and "Rent-A-Monster," all performed at EMU Theatre, Lawrence, Kansas. His one-acts include HAUNTED, which has been given staged readings at Rockhurst University, Kansas City; and Playwrights Circle, Palm Springs, California. Three of his short plays, ALLEGORY, MISSY, and APRIL IN IRAQ were read and performed by the EMU Theatre, Lawrence, Kansas. He has written two full-length plays CRISEYDE and CHOICE, the latter of which was given a staged reading at Just Off Broadway in Kansas City, Missouri. Besides CRISEYDE, which was subsequently rewritten as a screenplay, Mr. Bevan also wrote JOLLY ROGER for the screen. As an actor, he has performed in many plays across Kansas, including KISS ME KATE, PHILADELPHIA STORY, ANYTHING GOES, and ON GOLDEN POND. Mr. Bevan is the former Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing for Baker University, and is presently the Coordinator of the New Plays program, Lawrence Community Theatre, a member of the board of directors, EMU Theatre, and the Theater Reviewer for the Lawrence JOURNAL-WORLD. |

JAMIE SIMON
ROCKING CHAIR (2008 New Play Series, July 26) Jami Simon is both a professional writer and actor. As a performer, she has been featured on television, in film and on the New York stage. Besides ROCKING CHAIR, her writing credits include a Writer’s Digest Honorable Mention for LIKE A POET’S DREAM and MCAF(Manhattan Community Arts Fund) Grants for the plays, FRED THE CATERPILLAR, BABY VAUDEVILLE and GRANDMA’S POEMS: THE FIRST HUNDRED YEARS. She was given a Pen and Brush Award for her play BETWEEN THE SHEETS and a Puffin Foundation Grant for her Joy of Reading Series. The Brooklyn Public Library and CLASP (Connecting Libraries & Schools Project) commissioned Ms. Simon for her plays THE READING RAP” and THE LIBRARY STOMP. She is a published poet, holds a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Iowa and an MA from Illinois State University. |

ALEKS MERILO
BLUR IN THE REAR VIEW (2008 New Play Series, September 13) Aleks attended the UCLA School of theater, where he earned his MFA in Playwriting and BA in Theater. Among his recent productions, his play THE IMAGINARY MAN was seen at the Furious Theater at The Pasadena Playhouse, and BLOODY MARY appeared off-off-Broadway at the American Globe in Manhattan. Most recently, he worked as resident teaching artist for TheatreWorks in the San Francisco Bay Area, and currently is working on his Drama teaching credential in Ashland, Oregon. BLUR IN THE REAR VIEW was developed as part of the Moving Arts Theater's New play series. Based on the Edward Hopper Painting "Summer Evening", it benefited through the Dramaturgical guidance of The Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska, and 5 time Tony Nominated Director Marshall Mason. |

RICH ORLOFF
ENGAGEMENT RULES (2008 New Play Series, November 15) Rich Orloff is one of the most popular unknown playwrights in the country. His twelve full-length plays (mostly comedies) have been presented at such theaters as Arizona Theatre Company, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Charlotte Rep, Dayton Playhouse, Florida Studio Theatre, New Jersey Rep, West Coast Ensemble, and three times at the Key West Theatre Festival. The plays have won such contests as the Festival of Emerging American Theatre, the Playwrights First Award, the InterPlay International Play Festival, the Theatre Conspiracy New Play Contest, the Pickering Award for Playwriting Excellence and the Tennessee Williams Playwriting Competition.
Rich’s short
plays have received over five hundred productions on six of the seven continents
(and a staged reading in Antarctica). His short comedies have been published in
The Art of the One-Act Play, An Anthology of American Short Plays
(published in China), The Bedford Introduction to Literature, Best Ten-Minute
Plays 2007, Take Ten II and four times in the annual Best American
Short Plays anthology series. Playscripts (www.playscripts.com)
